Fall J - The Weserübung of 1916!

Several threads here last one "No fog over Munic" seem to ignore or peoples are not aware off that the Imperial German Navy treated Denmark-Norway as one strategic area.
Planning regarding either country would logically involve the other.

Fall J (Case J) was prepared in 1916 and the Danish Foreign Min strove to avert the inevitable until late in 1917 when the dangerous moment had passed.

Probably it was to be carried out along the unrestricted Uboat warfare declaration of March 1. 1916 or February 1. 1917. Or some time following that.

The occupation of Norway would of course be naval one airtransport being so limited at this time.

If the Kiegsmarine is to secure the passage to Norway will we see an early or second battle of Jutland?

Would this give the Germans the edge in the Uboat war they wanted?

Would we see WWII-like Murmansk convoy battles?

Could this affect the situation in Scandinavia, i.e. make Sweden an ally of the CPs? The German ships going for Norway would have to cross through Swedish territorial waters to avoid the Danish minefield in Oeresund.

Hm, if the British are still able to decode German transmissions ITTL, there's a fair possibility this would turn into a disaster for the invaders.

?How prepared were Denmark and Norway during WW1, as compared to their readiness in 1940?

I don't see Germany opening another Front, as helping their ability to exit the North sea,
Probably it was to be carried out along the unrestricted Uboat warfare declaration of March 1. 1916
Given the large Scandinavian population of the US, this may be enuff to tip the US into the War.

Denmark had an army of 5 infantry divisions. Most of the troops at this time was involved in digging fortifications. To defend Copenhagen!
The army envisioned a defence against German aggression while the Navy expected to fight the British - at least before the war. During it the Navy in one instance drove off German torpedoboat(s) attacking a British submarine.
There's a fleet list here

Huzzah, I found mention in an online source! Fall J and Fall N are mentioned on p.56 ff. It doesn't seem to give any specific German strengths for the operation, but we can surmise something from OTL's deployment of German units during the period. Cancelling or diminishing the Verdun operation would free up men and materiel, albeit at the expense of allowing the Entente a greater than OTL Somme Offensive with far more French troops, for instance.
