((A/N: Warning of all warnings, this section will include anti-Islamic acts of terror. I do not condone any acts of terror, and you probably shouldn't either.))

The British Empire is a monarchic state comprised of approximately four entities: The Kingdoms of England, Scotland, Wales, and the United Irish Provinces (comprised of the Provinces of Connacht, Leinster, Munster, and Ulster). While the British Empire (also known as the United Kingdom) is considered an important state, despite the heightened controversy of one of the four sub-entities.
The United Kingdom is run from the English Crown, who is itself headed by King Victor II (pictured below), who has reigned since 1987.

Technically, the British Empire is a constitutional monarchy, but the Kingdom of England has a notoriously aristocratic House of Commons with little representation of the populace (earning the House the common anti-monarchic name "the House of Echoes"), which has led to rising republican sentiment within the nation. The Kingdom of Wales is a territory of England, and is, as such, ruled by the English royal family. Scotland, however, has adapted to being the liberal brother of England, due to the wide amount of representation in Scottish Parliament (created in 1837, under the Decentralization Act, which was in response to Scottish separatism threatening to shatter the United Kingdom), as well as the lack of a monarchical figure in the country, with the executive head of government being the Prime Minister of Scotland. Ireland is more politically centre between England and Scotland, with a semi-monarchical system. Each province has a governor that is elected by the Provincial Assembly (a cabinet of fifteen members), and those governors convene regularly to decide on policies for Ireland.

Muslim family bombed in England
Family of six killed in terror act within England: the League is to roll out sanctions by end of the month
London (UK) - It was a cloudy Friday morning at the Ahmad family household, when a pale, skinny figure burst in through the front door of the household, screaming "Death to all Muslims! May the true God reign!" The detonation killed all members of the family, as well as the terrorist. Said terrorist was later found to be a twenty-four year old Anglican radical, who had suddenly left home the night prior to purchase the detonators from a local black-market arms dealer.
Sadly, this is the tenth religiously-motivated act of terror in the Kingdom of England, and the sixth Islamophobic terrorist act within those ten (three others were attacks against Jewish families, while the last was an attack against an irreligious family); oddly enough, though, the Ahmad family were practicing Christians, although Mr. Ahmad was of Islamic parentage, yet the family was deemed "fake Christians" by the attacker. The Christian-ness of his family was confirmed by most autopsy reports (oftentimes citing Mr. Ahmad's wife clutching a rosary that hung on her neck). Most autopsies that report the family as Muslim or non-Christians have been found to be pro-Angevin or otherwise Anti-Muslim groups; disconcertingly, however, several members of the House of Commons (England's lower house of Parliament) have sent messages either sourcing or linking these dubious reports, and a bill making the Anglican faith the official state religion has shown no sign of resistance towards its enactment, which will only lead to more of these attacks.
In response to this attack, several prominent British republican and secularist figures have begun a month-long series of protests across England towards the secularization of the country, as well as to usher in a period of tolerance. These leaders have advised all who wish to participate to prepare for violent resistance (which is the source of their anonymity), though they have made it clear that they do not condone acts of violence from protesters. These protests will continue until Christmas Eve, when the largest stage of the protest is said to take place. As of writing, protesters have begun marching through London, some sporting re-purposed riot shields with "Peace and Goodwill" written on them. Social media platforms have been found using the #ForAhmad to express and amass support for the movement.
With all these events going on, the League of the People has begun proposing action, with Secretary-General Jalal Dabagh (from the Kurdish Union) stating officially that "There has been a disgusting amount of leniency in our actions towards England: she has murdered people for no reason but to what God they believe in or do not, and we have allowed them to grow into this bitter, backwater state. It is with this heavy burden in my heart that I propose sanctions against the Kingdom; not the whole of Great Britain, but the part that has become almost rogue in the international community: The Kingdom of England." Additionally, there have been rumors of French financial aid in separatist parties in Great Britain and her dominions and colonies, though there is no evidence of this just yet.

((A/N: Yeah, this was a pretty big twist for Britain, I'll admit. I hadn't even considered them being this sort of disjointed, struggling-for-unity state with a reckless, almost theocratic England. I'll admit that I took heavy liberties from @Valdore Javorsky 's Nighrise timeline, though I neutered the religious extremism down to just England. Hope the change in tone isn't too drastic, nor too canon-shattering.))

"Petrograd" Single
bra billy joel.png

Cover of American singer-songwriter Billy Joel's single, Petrograd.

Released in 1989, Billy Joel's Petrograd is a single containing three songs: the titular song on the A-side, and the songs of "Goodnight Saigon" and "Vienna" on the B-side. Sometimes called the "City Singles" colloquially, the songs often are interpreted as having something to do with war and/or conflict.
PETROGRAD (Song): Compares and contrasts the lives of Americans and Russians in the Great Bloodless War between the two countries. The song was written following Joel's 1987 Grand European Tour, which included one of the first American concerts to be held in Russia since the beginning of the Great Bloodless War. While in Petrograd, Joel met Russian clown Viktor Razinov, who had traveled to all of Joel's concerts within Russia, and the two became fast friends.
GOODNIGHT SAIGON: A song written to detail the conditions soldiers faced during the Thai Invasion of Viet Nam, especially with the guerrilla tactics Siamese forces used.
VIENNA: Details the calming life of Vienna with the stressful life of America, but with an extra layer of depth considering Joel's disapproval of the Austrian government, so that Vienna is the good heart in a bad man.

((A/N: Just me posting something related to Billy Joel out of boredom and love of Joel's work. The songs would sound the same, though the lyrics would likely have to be slightly different. Other than Vienna because Vienna is fucking superb))

Billy Joel (or anyone for that matter) existing ITTL is ASB.

The argument that I use is that it's impossible to predict who exactly would be born hundreds of years after a POD, therefore it's just as possible for someone from OTL to be born as it is for any of the countless other potential people to be born.

Connies, Debbies, & Ultcons
INTERNET DICHOTOMY 101:
--

Ultcon: Short for ultra-conservative. Originated from an as-of-yet unknown message board in about 2005. It refers to moderate- to far-right reactionaries.

Connie: Originating from Talkboard in 2015, referring to conspiracy theorists: often ultcons that propose some sort of global conspiracy (oftentimes the "Libbie Overlords" or other similar ideas). Oftentimes hold supremacist/racist views, and are vehemently anti-leftist.

Debbie: Originated from the same source as Connies, referring to individuals who spend large amounts of their time debunking connies. They are often left-wing, but there are also many centre- or moderate-right Debbies. They typically do this through videos, such as through sites as Vidviewer.

((A/N: Sorry for lack of updates, dunno what to cover next really.))
