hey, all. before i get on to China for my ASB ATL, there's one thing i need to figure out (which is important for the rest of the ATL as well). i've already decided that the October Revolution doesn't take place, ultimately leading to Russia becoming a constitutional monarchy with a strong socialist movement (via the more moderate Mensheviks).

one important thing that i need to know for the rest of the world, though, is what the lack of a Soviet Union would have on how communism fares elsewhere in the world. i imagine, without such a powerful communist state, that alot of countries--notably China--wouldn't have become communist dictatorships as well or that communism (and by extension socialism) wouldn't have been seen as being the worst thing since Hitler by many people as it was IOTL. thus, this would probably mean that the Red Scare never happens (or isn't as influential). this could also very well mean that figures like Joe McCarthy never rise to power in the US, at least

any other ideas?
