Extra! A TL, told in newspapers

I'm pretty sure Buchanan's not getting the job. He just straight up murdered someone, his OWN POLITICAL OPPONENT. That's arrest material. How could he even BE president?! It's April, Lincoln likely had his cabinet set up anyway (Presidents started in March originally). Plus hasn't California been a state for a whole decade?

My vote is for the Speaker of the House or President Pro Tempore getting the job.

Well, there was no proof, it was just speculation. But you are completely right; shall attempt to modify it.

No way that California has secessionist movement unless there is a way earlier POD.

Well, since Calif has been a state for about a decade, the Gold Rush might have made people want to hog that for themselvs.

Wait at least a day before bumping. It takes a while for everyone to view everything.
OK.
How did you do that? :)
