Evolution of an East Prussian Israel

Lets assume that a Jewish state is established in the territory of East Prussia (with the exception of Danzig/Gdańsk) following World War 2 and that around 1-1.5 million Eastern European Jews move there, forcibly or not. In this timeline, the great powers feel this is enough of a compensation to the Jews and do not support the foundation of a Jewish state in Palestine.

How might this country progress politically? Would it become a Soviet puppet state, integrated as an SSR or simply finlandized? Would it end up joining the Warsaw Pact or would it be able to stay neutral?

What about economy? Would it become less successful then OTL Israel? What amount, if any, of foreign aid would it recieve? How would it progress after the fall of communism if it happens on time?

Finally, how would its relationship be with its neighboring countries, particularly when (and if) the Soviet Union collapses? What about the United States?

Possible leader of the pro-Soviet Jewish State in East Prussia - David Dragunsky (1910-1992).
OTL - he was a Soviet Tank General, WWII Hero, hard Communist and head of the Anti-Sionist Committee.

Cool! Do you believe this Israel would take on a hard atheist character or do you think it would be tolerant of religious practices? In the Soviet Union the inhabitants of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast supposedly had permission to practice their religion. It would be kind of weird to have an atheist nation state for an ethno-religious group.

I expect Ashkenazi would be the primary language so it would basically remain a German enclave, the idea is pretty neat honestly.

You mean Yiddish? Askenazi was the group, Yiddish the language. And since the Polish Jews were mostly wiped out, and the German Jews who escaped overseas wouldn't be coming back.... Wondering if they change Yiddish a bit in this scenario to remove some more agerman influences. Well, not as if a Jew in this would ever need to say they weren't the same as a German. I can see people calling East Germany West Prussia or Brandenburg, with the Poles as peacemakers in a triangle of anger.

I suspect it might be more likely for this East Prussia to be annexed to the Soviet Union, perhaps to end up as a Soviet Jewish homeland.

I'd think they would give it nominal independence for propaganda purposes.
Yep. Plus this way they wouldn't have to let them move as much as in the USSR. As limitted as that was. If it is independent, it will be useful for attracting foreign Jewish support (doubtful) and it might be put opposite of a Jewish Israel. It really depends as what time this Yiddish state is set up. The survivors of the Holocaust were basically legging it due to how they were treated by the Poles.mit should be noted though that a pogrom against them was apparentlt initiated by the Soviets so as to discredit the Poles, but a Polish Cardinal or bishop didn't seem especially caring of their plight. And East Prussia... The Soviets going to demand land elsewhere to make up for no Kaliningrad?

Couple of other things.

Firstly, having a Jewish state in East Prussia is going to make it rather awkward for West Germans calling for the reclaiming of German lands east of the Oderniesse Line.

Secondly, the founding myth of a Jewish state carved out of German territory is likely to base its justification as a reparation to the Jewish people for the Holocaust. Given that the Soviets OTL had issues with regards to downplaying and erasing the specifically Jewish aspects of the Shoa (tending to focus on an undifferentiated and general victims of fascism), this probably implies that the Soviets are taking a different stance ITTL. Which is good IMO.
