And now for something for completely different. This stems back to when I was eight years old and an avid wrestling fan with my all time favourite being the British Bulldog. I always felt that it was a shame that he never won the WWF Championship title and so, the last few weeks, I decided to write an alternate history wrestling TL where he did and the results on wrestling itself because of the outcome. Hope you enjoy and any feedback you can give would be nice.

May 28th, North Charleston Coliseum, North Charleston, South Carolina:

Referee Earl Hebner slowly started to rise to his feet. From inside the ring, he could hear the match nearing his conclusion. The plan was easy enough, slowly rise and count when the German Suplex was applied, get the match as a draw and the night’s work would be done. The crowd gave out a roar as Hebner heard the ring bang from a body being slammed down onto it “Ah crap I’m behind!” Hebner thought and he quickly shot up, his head brushing against the small curtain on the edge of the ring before his head cracked against the hard surface that made the ring’s mat.

His head feeling as if it would split from pain, Hebner fell down to the ground, clutching it in agony as a distant pounding could be heard. The count of one-two-three and with a cheer from the crowd, the match was finished. The joy of the crowd was unmatched, until they heard the result…

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the match and a new World Wrestling Federation Champion, the British Bulldog!” Throughout the area the song Land of Hope and Glory was heard as the joy of the crowd turned to outright dismay that their favourite had lost, their protestations growing louder as the second referee, Mike Chioda handed him the championship belt. Boos and jeers were heard as Bulldog lifted the belt in triumph, outwardly smirking, inwardly panicking. Where the Hell was Hebner? Why hadn’t he acted yet?

Shawn Michaels shared similar thoughts although he was able to show his confusion outwardly. He practically leapt up to Mike Chioda and began a furious argument, still expecting Hebner to pop up at some point. It took one minute before it became truly evident Hebner wasn’t arriving and so improvisation was desperately needed. Stepping in front of Michaels, Bulldog shouted back, taunting over the loss while shoving the belt in his face.

With no other choice, Michaels played along, shoving Bulldog which resulted in a shove back and it descended from there. Bulldog threw a punch which was countered by Michaels who threw his own, connecting and sending Bulldog to the floor. He rolled over as soon as he hit the ground and got out of the ring. Belt still in hand as he started to walk down the aisle, one thought ran threw his mind as he raised the belt over his head, smirking in triumph “McMahon is going to go completely insane over this…”
