Eurovision 2013

I've been wondering for a while about what would happen if Ukraine won Eurovision 2013 in Malmo. They were third place. When the time comes for Ukraine to host Eurovision 2014, would they accept or refuse (financial cost)?

More importantly, would Russia still fund the Russian separatists? If Eurovision 2014 was hosted in Eastern Ukraine instead, would that change anything? Or would Eurovision choose a different location, farther away from the east?

When Ukraine won the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest, the 2005 ESC was held in Kiev. I can't see Ukraine holding the Contest anywhere else than Kiev if they win in 2013. Maybe Ukraine will refuse to host it (happened several times in the past that the previous years' winner declined to host the following year) or maybe Russia would refuse to participate.

I don't see this having any effect on Putin's support for the Russian separatists. A more interesting example might be if Poland and Ukraine hosted the 2014 Football World Cup instead of the 2012 European Championships. Russia waited until after the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi to get involved in Crimea, but if the 2014 FIFA World Cup was hosted in Poland and Ukraine, especially with Kharkiv and Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine being host venues like they were in 2012, then that would change everything.

I can't see Putin funding seperatists in Kharkiv and Donetsk when there are still World Cup matches going on in those cities. So if that were the case, Russia would likely put things on hold until late 2014 or even 2015. Eventually Putin would still be determined to annex Crimea for the Russian fleet at Sevastopol, but a World Cup in the Ukraine would certainly force him to delay his plans.
