European connections with ancient Mexico

The Aztecs had a decent lenght of coastline, both Pacific and Atlantic.

You are correct. However, I was thinking the Aztecs would have lost their Gulf coast as their tributary people became allied with Spain. The Totonacs and Tlaxcalans would likely cut them off from the coast. This is supposition of course. The Pacific Coast would still be part of the Aztecs, but it will take a very long time before any European power makes contact with them through there. Epidemic disease would likely cause their societal collapse before that happens.

How would they have had done that? Tlaxcalans were very exhausted at the time of Spanish arrival in 1519.
