You are a Romanized Briton living in the tiny seaport town of Senium, on the Isle of Britannia. For years you have sailed as a seacaptain. You once had sailed the Med for the Roman trade, but chaos are beginning to reighn even there. You look to the future with trepidation. Things at home are not going well.
Rome is falling. Barbarians are comming to the Isle of the Romans (Britannia) in ever more violent raids, and some of them are setting up shop to stay. The last of the Legions had departed some time ago. Now, even the auxilliaries have been recalled to the continent. There is no one to protect your viliage from the dreaded "Seawolves" who come with thier warships to kill and plunder. And, the plagues and diseases follow as well. You decide that it is time to leave.
But you are not without fortune. You are the Captain of a trading ship. You have knowledge of the seas, and you have sailed the North African route for years. During your travels, you came across a Carthaginian descendent named Capabo. He has spent many nights sitting with you under the stars, regalling you with the stories of the Phoenecian ancestors of his who once sailed to a far away place across the Western seas.
Capabo has told you of what will one day be a great land. He tells that he has sailed there once, on a fishing expedition. He tells of rich forrest, fertile fishing grounds, strange deer which are larger than horses. He fills your head with these stories until finally an idea crops into your head.
You decide to go to Africa with a crew of men from Britannia. You will steal a large grain ship and take it to Britannia. You will meet your people at the tiny port of Senium, your home. From there, you will sail with Capabo as your guide to this new land across the western sea.
So, you must plan for you peoples needs in this strange new land, if it even exists. Capabo has never lied to you, but still you are nervous. Yet, trusting your friend, you begin your plans. You know from Capabo that the lands climate is similar to Scotland or Norway. It is a Northern forrest land. And so you must think as to what you will take with you, for you are never to return.
So, Captain, how do you organize your colonial expedition? What will you say to the gathering of the elders? How many will you take? Capabo has told of a two month leg to each journey, so how many persons can you transport safely in your large Roman grain ship?
As you and the townspeople ponder these things, you hear of the massacre at Peavensea. The Angles and Saxons have slain all the Britons in that area, even the young and old. This makes everyones minds up. Now it is time to plan.
So, what will you do? How could such an expedition be carried off succesfully? What, and who, do you take?
