European Defence Community (thanks Steffen for title)

Bright day
What if the French parliament does not shoot it down amidst the street protests? (I am speaking about 1950's)

Ah yes! Sorry I had small info and in czech only so the terms are problematic.

If the proposal had been accepted ( say De Gaulle comes as for it, rather than against ), we would definitely have a European Army today.

I agree with that sentiment.

Would it mean earlier "EU"?

Could such force prevent the mess in Balkans?
