I have read that most languages refer to (geological) Europe using words based on "Europa". Besides everyday usage, what would the other effects be and how would it have affected historical events?
What I meant was that every languagealways refers to it as Europa. No "Europe," even though French shifts the pronunciation of Latin words. Maybe they want to respect the original Latin, i dunno.
Would that be possible, or would linguistic convention always ensure that "Europe" comes into use somewhere?
So long as the various peoples of the planet speak different languages, variations on place names are inevitable. Even if you make it the first word they know Europe by they'll still come up with something new and abandon Europe for something that agrees with them more.
