Euro-Mongolian "Alliance"

Alright, when the Mongolians came in contact with the Europeans, they eventually established relations. At one point, they were even attempting to cooperate.

Against who? The Muslims. At some points, they were assisting each other in Crusades, but logistical failures ended up giving them some problems. Now, an alliance was in the works, but the Mongols collapsed before anything really happened.

Could, if the Mongols didn't implode, or simply didn't implode as MUCH, could we have seen a mighty Mongol-Euro Alliance, one that might just get the Euros backstabbed later?

The closest relations were with France, but I don't think the Pope would've been in favour of an alliance with the Mongols.

I remember reading a thread on the subject of a the khan of a christian mongol tribe (can't remember its name) proposing an alliance to both Edward I of England and Philip IV of France for a crusade... It ended in failure because both monarchs were at war with each other.

I'm not sure a Euro-Mongolian alliance could work. Mongols were seen as barbarians by European nations.

But would they be worse than the Muslims to the Europeans?

That depends. The Mongols themselves had no real religion (from what I know at least)... They adopted those of the area they controlled.

If they were Christians, there might be a chance that an alliance could work.
If not, they could be seen as worse than the muslims.

I believe the alliance was being planned between the Christian Mongols before everything fell apart.

The Mongols originally had an animist religion. They adopted other religions as they started conquering, including Islam and Christianity. A problem is that the form of Christianity that they adopted was Nestorianism, which would be regarded as heretical by the Catholic Church.
