Euro 88: A more successful tournament for England?

Not losing the opener against Ireland would have helped ;) They had the better of the game, Ireland only had one chance but Ray Houghton took it, if England had managed to convert one of their many chances then they probably could have gone on to win that game. That would have meant they didn't need to chase a win against the Dutch and possibly could have drawn that game. A point against the USSR in the decider would have been enough to see them through and then who knows? :)

Let's say everything went right.

Lineker being on form scores a hatrick against Ireland.

England progress with two wins and a draw.

How do they fare?
