Ethan Allen conquerer of Canada

In OTL Ethan Allen fresh from his success at Ticonderoga advanced on St. Jean(St. Johns)a strategical important post on the Richelieu River. He actually occupied the post without a fight. However the approach of a large British force and his mens unwillingness to mount an ambush forced his withdrawal.

He would later return with a larger American army under the field command of Brigadier General Richard Montgomery. However Carleton had strengthened St. Jean's defenses which took nearly 3 months to reduce.

POD Ethan Allen with the help of Benedict Arnold successfully ambushes the British force sent to reclaim St. Jeans. With St. Jeans in American hands the Rebel Army enters Montreal in August instead of November.

Maybe not. An early victory also means that the bulk of British regulars in Canada don't become POWs in Nov. 1775. Carleton has a lot more regulars to defend Quebec. Arnold's expedition is probably butterflied away as well.
