Epilogue of Mongol Invasion of Europe?

Say this theory. Ogedai doesn't die from his drunken stupor, and continues onward towards Europe

Southern Germany, Northern Italy, Central and Southern France, Poland, Balkans, Much of Lithuania, Austria, and maybe Benelux, will be ravaged by the Mongols.

Save for the following, from Bribing, Victory, or other reasons: Paris and the region surrounding it, Central Northern Germany, Teutonic Territory, Florence, Rome and South, Greece (Well just Athens and Thessalonica), Constantinople, and maybe a Balkan country, say Montenegro.

So they Pillage, Rape, Loot, etc.
Then they leave, and would probably have new Mongol states, or if the Khan dies, then every Mongol has to return to Mongolia to crown the new one.

What's left?
Florence survives so that means Dante can at least survive, Paris saved much of the Medieval knowledge, Rome still has the Pope, but much of Germany, France, and the Lower Regions have been ravaged, as well as Genoa and Venice, maybe Nicaea can take advantage of the ravaged Crusader states in Byzantium and restore the empire earlier, but whats left of Europe and its society?

The Mongols would have to be operating from a grassland - ergo, probably Hungary.

This may take shape as several victorious expeditions that end up with European princes either killed or bending knee, but overall I don't think the Mongols would want to set up shop away from their greatest position of strength. Think late medieval Rus, Europe-scale.

The new Holy Roman Emperor whoever he is will probably have an opportunity to strengthen his position as the barony and cities will be ravaged.

England might take the opportunity to smash France.

I think Venice should survive actually. The Rialto is easily defendable, and food could be shipped in from further down the coast. The Mongols just didn't do navies.

I'm sure they can convince some rival Italian city state to do the navy part for them.

basileus' Interference TL has the Mongols establishing themselves in Europe. Very detailed, unfortunately/sadly he isn't writing too much nowadays.

I'm sure they can convince some rival Italian city state to do the navy part for them.

Let's just review the options.

Rome and South are spared, let's say the mountainous terrain of Umbria and the Appenines prevents the Mongol advance.

Florence manages to pay them off, but has an inferior navy to Venice, assuming it even has a substantial navy.

Genoa has a rival navy, but the Mongols have sacked the place, so their likely to simply flee to Corsica or someplace rather than give up the navy.

The other states of the north, Milan, Savoy, Rimini, Mantua etc. have basically no navies.

The basic situation is that in order for Venice to fall, Genoa must survive and pay the mongols off using the navy. This also fits with the idea of the Appenines stopping the Mongol advance, which saves Florence as well.
