Epic Massive American Submarine Wank

No using the right Tomahawks, if we still have them makes all the difference. The Block D was designed to take out runways and is/was very effective. Trumps use of 59 at a Syrian runway was asinine. It ticked off the Russians, was broadcasted to the Syrians official before it happened and still did not shut down the runway. It was to make Trum look like a big man and it failed, at a cost of over $60 million plus for a publicity stunt.

Whether it was successful or not depends on how you measures it. From a purely military and tactical standpoint, the strike failed and failed hard. From a political and strategic standpoint, it was a success. The reason I'm saying that, I haven't heard the news report any use of chemical weapons in Syria since. If they have been used, well, then I'm a dumbass and need to pay more attention. Lol. But if they haven't, you could make the argument that the strike was using the military how the military is designed to be used. As a political tool of foreign policy. As in, "we warned you not to do X. You did it anyway. Now we'll show you what happens when you don't listen."

I've written a couple long drafts on this thread but someone always seems to make my point with fewer words. So, here's a quick and simple question:

What about the UUM-125 Sea Lance?

The US had no conventional standoff ASW weapon (SUBROC was nuclear). The USSR had the SS-N-15 Starfish and SS-N-16 Stallion. So, do you fund Sea Lance for the SSNs or not?

Except they weren't aimed at the runway, they were aimed at aircraft shelters, fuel storage, ammo bunkers, machine shops and other basing facilities

The runway was operational, but the rest of the base wasn't and sorties from that base were down over 95%, and the Syrians were flying in aircraft from other bases to land and take off as a publicity stunt

In any case it made a point while being cheap and not risking US lives

I have slowly realized how fantastic this scenario is. I was ignorant and knew virtually nothing about naval warfare at the time and since then my knowledge has perhaps tripped. Now, I know much more about military and my personal life state is much better. Since I am not under severe distress anymore it is clearer.

Sorry for posting this thread.
