Nobody as far as I can ever recall called the Enola Gay's strike "heroism". The Silverplate was the most sophisticated strategic bomber ever built up to that point, and was never in any danger from Japan's primitive air defenses. Especially considering that an early to late morning appearance by 1-3 B-29s were bound to be (and were) taken to be a mere reconnaissance flight, unarmed and unworthy of engaging.

Insanity? If you belong to the:

"Atomic strikes had nothing to do with Japan's surrender School"

AND

"Japan's surrender was all about the USSR's declaring war College"

AND

"It was all about scaring the Commies and testing the Bomb on a civilian target University"

then YES, from your POV it was insanity:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

20:20 hindsight is a great thing, right?

Is'nt this just the guy who posts on every remotely aviationish website linking to a website with loads of pictures that he's just ripped off the net without giving credit?

no Mods around to kick him to the kerb?
