English-Moroccan Invasion of Spain

In the 1500s, Morocco proposed a joint invasion of Spain, but Queen Elizabeth refused, what if she had agreed and sent the fleet to Morocco's aid? And what if the two monarch Mulay Hamet and Queen Elizabeth lived longer to carry out the plans, what would happen?

Is this before or after the Armada? Before 1580 or so, the English navy was in a wretched state, and it'd've been suicide to go to war with Spain.

Afterwards, it'd still probably blow up in their faces.

It was after the Armada, around the 1590's I believe. Ahmad al-Mansur even sent an ambassador to England in 1600 in order to negotiate the invasion. However, given the record of the English troops against the Spanish in Netherlands and the failed attempts post-Armada to attack Spanish ports, I think it would be doomed anyway. They actually had difficulties to send the ship on where the Moroccan ambassador embarked because Spanish warships where hunting them, I imagine that such invasion would hardly not being noted by Spain.

This would probally not be a wise move on for either England or Morocco. England gets a bloody nose if it sends troops in to invade and wastes alot of money and resources from what will probally only come to colonial concessions if anything. While Morocco will be remembered and is only three nautical miles away. England probally would not support Morocco in the inevitable invasion to come. Then Spain will probally go all religoulous and bring the inquistion. And then you have everyone going crazy for the next few hundred years.

hm. I'd heard about the Elizabethan overtures to the Ottomans...but nothing about Mulay Hamet.

good choice of divergence.
