What if it was England, and not Spain, that discovered and colonised most of the Americas? I assume that this would have changed a lot the history of what became Latin America, as the social structure would probably have been different. Or would it? In Spanish America one saw large areas of land owned by a single man, while in North America there was to develop a more egalitarian distribution of the land. But one important thing about areas like Mexico/Guatemala and Peru/Bolivia would remain, namely a much larger size of the native population. How would this influence English colonisation? Would it have meant that English colonisation of this areas would have developed in a way that was not that different from how it did in our timeline?
