Everybody seems to create new tanks and airplanes for the various countries that took part in the Second World War. Everybody speeds up development of existing engines by three years earlier than OTL. What if you have existing tanks and airplanes, and in 1932 or so, you are responsible for selecting, designing and manufacturing engines of war for your country. What would you do? Sure, you'd use sodium-filled exhaust valves with stellite tips and seats. That's a given, but what arrangement of cylinders, bore and stroke, combustion chamber shape, main and big end bearing type and material, number of valves, carb type, camshaft location and drive system? Gear-driven supercharger or turbocharger, multi-gear or variable speed? Just a bare bones description. What would you do?
