None of which addresses designing a "VR16" from a clean sheet of paper....Just Leo said:The VR6 engine is not as narrow as a straight 6 It is shorter and wider. A W engine is a pair of VR6 engines in a 72 degree bank, and is shorter and wider than a 60 degree V12. It is intended to fit in a car transversely, which is why length is a factor. The frontal area is larger. By the way, a V6 is shorter and wider than a VR6. If two VR6s are lines up in line in a common crankcase, the crankshaft is too long.
I haven't, but unless I'm mistaken, it's been done. Notice, also, in this period I'm talking about a quite crude "EFI" with a hot wire mass airflow sensor to meter fuel, not fullblown modern EFI.Just Leo said:One more thing. Have you figured how to make EFI work on a diesel engine?
On the Lancia, I wonder how much of that was it being a Lancia.AdA said:A friend of mine used to have a Lancia Fulvia with that V4. Maintenance nightmare. The VW VR6 didn't get a good rep either.
