Encounter at Entebbe: What if..?

Okay friends, there is something that tickles my imagination.

It's about the 1976 operation undertaken by Israeli commando forces.
In a nutshell: After palestinian and German terrorists took control of an Air France plane on the 27th of June they were given entry to Uganda by its dictator, Idi Amin. The terrorists took the passengers and crew hostage and held them at the terminal. When it became clear that the action was aimed at Jews, Israel took steps to secure their release. What followed was the raid that is now known as Operation Entebbe. 7 hijackers, 3 hostages, 45 Ugandans, and one Israeli died that night. The one Israeli was Lt. Col. Yonatan Netanyahu, older brother to Israel's current PM, Benjamin Netanyahu.

More info on the raid here.

My questions:

What if Yonatan Netanyahu had not been killed during the raid?
Would he have gone on to become an important Israeli leader? More important than his little brother?

What do you think? Please comment! :)
