Empress Mathilda dies in infancy?

So I've recently been reading about the Anarchy, a period of civil war following the disputed succession that occurred after King Henry the First died without a son to take up his crown. There were two claimants during that war, King Stephen of Blois and Empress Mathilda, Mathilda being the only living child of the dead king. So my question is, if Mathilda dies in infancy, and a butterfly net is used, and the White ship still goes down, how would having King Stephen of Blois as the undeniable king of England alter history?

My bet is that Henry I will just legitimize one of his bastards.Alternatively, might Henry get reconciled with William Clito?

I am not sure of what will happen as Stephen of Blois was a great favorite of his uncle Henry I. Maybe would be better (and require less butterfly) having Mathilda dying in childbirth together with her child. Then would be easier for Stephen taking power without being contested it still is not guaranteed
