Hello this is my first alternative history so sorry for poor quality

the year is 467.Libius Severus just died of natural causes,and a new emperor just came into power and his name is Procopius Anthemius Augustus.Proclaimed emperor of the western roman empire just 12 miles from Rome he trained his army and increased imperial coffers for a campaign that would restore Roman dominance in the Mediterranean.In 468 in Cap Bon Gaiseric asked Basiliscus to allow him five days to draw up conditions for a peace.Basilicus ordered the imperial navy to stand ready for any Vandal attack and that his spies would inform him about Vandal movement,his worst fears came true,the Vandals gathered their fleet and attacked and filled their ships with combustible materials.Despite heavy casualties the Romans managed to win and killed Gaiseric and his heir.In two years Anthemius conquered the rest of africa.
Now that imperial coffers are fillings up again Anthemius could focus on retaking iberia and improving the imperial army.But he does something unexpected,he declared himself a pagan.

He instantly started rebuilding temples and removing anti-pagan laws that were passed by previous emperors.He also returned the Alter of victory and moved a few legions on the boarder of the eastern empire.

A month has passed from his conversion from the christian faith.He sent Flavius Messius Phoebus Severus his old friend that plotted to restore paganism with him to govern the empire while he prepared to fight with the Eastern Roman Empire and his emperor Leo I.He was correct Leo attacked the western empire.He chased the emperor to the Frigidus river where the emperor Eugenius lost to Theodosius.Leo hopping to win and prove that the roman gods aren't real and that Jesus is the only god prepared to fight Anthemius in a battle which was fought by approximately 200000 men.Leo started the battle by charging the left flank of the roman army commanded by Ricimer a romanized barbarian.The western roman infantry took massive casualties but managed to push the eastern assault back and even surround two cohorts,but Ricimer didn't pay attention to the enemy horsemen and was killed by their charge thus making the left flank without a general.But Anthemius attacked the right flank and taking the attention of Leo of the horsemen who were surrounded and killed.With the infantry advantage and the horsemen advantage too Anthemius pushed his infantry to the battle and charged with his horsemen at Leo I

The last stand of the eastern troops and death of Leo I

With no generals the eastern roman empire lost the battle and three legions,in two years the empire was reunited again under Anthemius and under rapid paganisation.Flavius Messius Phoebus Severus was promoted to govenor of Judea and been given two Legions to defend against the arab tribes and even conquer,but the empire isn't improving only improving on military and economic terms but also on scientific terms with an invention that can blow steam out and be used to travel at fast speeds(1)it currently is awaiting for the emperors inspection.

With the west and east united under Anthemius and paganism the major religion in rome once again Anthemius turned his attention to the Visigoths and the Suebi in iberia.But before he could focus on the barbarians he turned attention to a invention of a machine that can move objects at fast speeds and be used for mass production.when inspecting it he was blown away about how fast it could move and ordered that it would be built across the empire with factory in the cities it made finding jobs and low priced objects easy and with railroads he made it easy to administrate the empire,in order to modernize he postponed the invasion of iberia.But he died before being able to conquer spain leaving the empire for his son Gaius Anthemius Augustus

Gaius Anthemius Augustus was a young and charismatic emperor only 20 years old,his first action was to prepare to invade Iberia.He prepared for the war for 2 years,but the barbarians were also preparing for war.He attacked first leaving all the fighting to his generals.He conquered iberia but lost two legions.Overconfident he invaded gaul to reunite south gaul with west gaul.But he did not win,his legions were ambushed and butchered,when he heard about the news he ordered that the empire would reinstate the lorica segmintata as making the armor was cheaper than ever.

The roman empire at the death of Anthemius

Hello,i'm doing this to inform you the viewer about what land Anthemius conquered and events.
Anthemius comes to the throne becoming emperor just 12 miles from Rome.He takes africa a year later.He becomes a pagan,fights the eastern empire and reunites the empire leading to amazing technological discoveries.

After the failed war against the barbarians in gaul Gaius Anthemius is preparing to do a two sided assault to unite south and north gaul.waiting until the year of 476 AD,the emperor visits the roman legionaries two weeks before the planed assault just to see javelins flying towards him.after getting wounded he ordered his men to prepare for battle.

He quickly saw how the barbarians formed formations and moved forward the roman formations,he saw how enemy cavalry was trying to flank roman legionaries.He ordered his own cavalry to block them.The roman cavalry won against the barbarian so the roman emperor got overconfident and ordered a general assault,only to see the barbarian running like lighting against roman troops

The barbarian troops hit the roman lines,the romans didn't even manage to trow pilum against them.The infantry went to pushing battle.But the barbarian left flank got pushed to the point were the barbarian cavalry managed to do a hammer and anvil thus destroying the roman right flank and managed to surround the entire roman army and their emperor,the roman fought hard and took small casualties but the barbarian archers managed to take a hill allowing them to pummel the roman legionaries with archers.

After the battle the barbarians looked for the roman emperor,they found him with his subligaculum wet.After the battle a crisis rose in the Roman empire,who will take the throne of the empire since the emperor never had a child.The senators decided that the empire would become a new republic.

The flag of the restored republic

After the death of Gaius Anthemius Augustus the senators decided that they would not choose who will inherit the empire and decided that the empire would become a republic once again,they instantly ordered a election.The winners were Gaius Africanus Octavianus a member of the Octavian family and a descendant of the first emperor,the other consul was Marcus Germanicus Cornelius.Marcus went to defend gaul while Octavianus stayed in Rome to administrate the realm.While Octavianus increased his popularity and made the republic more reach than ever in history while marcus actually managed to connect north gaul.After finishing their consulship whit octavianus gaining all of gaul while Marcus got the riches province of the republic.Octavian asked for more legions to defend the people of Rome but the senate denied so he used his popularity and his money to form 3 legions.After forming a few legions he used a migrating tribe as a reason of war saying that it was invading Rome so he went to fight a river battle.
