Emperor of a Greater German Empire following a Central Powers Victory

Let's assume a typical CP victory, the details really do not matter; a decade or so after the war, Austria breaks down and unites with the German Empire. My question is, who might be the emperor of this next stage of the Empire.

I myself have a few ideas that could use insight on;

  1. A Hapsburg or Hohenzollern is chosen separate from the King of Prussia and Archduke of Austria to be the new emperor.
  2. A Noble from a difference unrelated monarchy (Perhaps Bavaria or Saxony) becomes the new emperor.
  3. The Throne alternates between Hapsburg and Hohenzollern.
  4. The Archduke of Austria becomes the New German Emperor.
  5. The Status Quo continues with the King of Prussia acting as the German Emperor.
  6. A new system is put into place to elect the Emperor from the standing German Monarchs within the Empire similar to the HRE.

It would remain with the Kings of Prussia, with the Austrian monarch becoming like the other German monarchs (like the King of Bavaria): subordinate to the Emperor. The Imperial Constitution vested Prussia with permanent presidency of the German Empire and, therefore, vested the King of Prussia with permanent control of the Imperial title.

You'd need the constitution to be amended alongside Austria joining the German Empire to change that, otherwise it would continue to be the Kings of Prussia taking the Imperial title.

Willy tried to abdicate the Imperial throne but remain King of Prussia but it was deemed that he couldn't be one and not the other. So for that to change a constitutional change would be required.

Not that this off the table, during the war Willy promised to end Prussian 3 class franchise which would have a major impact on Imperial politics. Perhaps other constitutional changes could occur in the aftermath of the war, especially if Austria was to join the empire.

The Hohenzollerns are at the height of their power and the Habsburgs are at the nadir of their power. A union under these conditions won't involve compromise or new arrangements - it's Austria being annexed by the Hohenzollern-Prussian dominant Germany.

If your typical CP victory doesn't involve large amounts of civil unrest and demands for reform the post war empire will be lead by the Emperor of Germany who's also the King of Prussia, with some minor changes to elections and representation.

This was basically the aftermath of my Wilhelm II SI I mapped out and plan to eventually write. Germany reforms and basically uses Austria as cannon fodder allowing it to absorb blows from the Russians while the German forces rush in to save the day. With the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire Germany invades and the Hapsburg Austria with Galatia included is integrate into Germany like Bavaria was. The Austrian Archduke/King will be subordinate to Wilhelm I, but a royal marriage between the Hohenzollen and Hapsburg houses work to smooth things over. In the newly independent Hungarian kingdom and kingdom of Yugoslavia Hapsburg cadet branches are placed on the thrones of each nation. Each Hapsburg is married to a suitable noble house from each region. And because Germany won a quick and decisive victory with the SI using his popularity to re-assert the dominance of the monarchy and the Greater German Empire acts as a sort of centralized HRE. The Reichstag is kept as a rubber stamp and the Kaiser effectively rules as an absolute ruler though on paper its semi-constitutional. The other states with MittleEuropa are also bound to Germany and the Hungarian kingdom along with the other breakaway states are also added into MittleEuropa.
Greater Germany looks similar to this, but with Germany keeping Istria so they have access to the Mediterranean Sea.

Though here the Ottomans would be intact and Germany would annex Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands and possibly Denmark by the time of the Second Weltkrieg creating a truly pan German Empire. France would be likely reduced to its West-Francia HRE borders and have a reverse treaty of Versailles. Most likely because this is an SI story, the Bourbons are placed in charge of a puppet France.
