Elvis World Challenge

Inspired by a certain episode of Sliders. Get a world where:

* JFK is President in 1995.
* "Global cooling" is rampant.
* Americans flock to Mexico for jobs.
* Red means go, Green means stop.
* Elvis is still alive and performing in 1995.
* Vinyl beats out CDs by the 1990s, instead of the 2010s.

Bonus points if you can get Marilyn Monroe to marry JFK.

Did the pilot episode indicate that JFK was still the president, or that he was president again, or if he became president in his later years?

I assumed the intention of the writers was to have a lot of random things, but the records, Elvis, and JFK seem to suggest a world that has turned very retro for some reason. And also the Americans fleeing to Mexico could support this, either because there's an oppressive political party or group that's trying to keep things in the past, or because there has been an oppressive political party or group and people are longing for better days, which led to the reelection of JFK and the return of Elvis. And now, perhaps, that party or group has threatened or otherwise coerced JFK to leave office.

Of course, the issues of Elvis and JFK still being alive might be unrelated. In the JFK issue, maybe Jacquie was shot when they tried to shoot John?

Well, most of it isn't that ASB. CDs are being phased out in OTL by the major record labels while Vinyl is enjoying a resurgence as of 2012. Global Cooling was a fairly respectable theory in the 1970s and experiencing a bit of a revival among right-wingers and certain contrarians. And Elvis being alive is easy to do - just get him clean earlier. JFK living into the 1990s and getting elected given his health problems is bordering on ASB though.. But not impossible with certain tech advances. The site I linked to speculated that the New Deal was aborted/failed and Mexico had better leadership that allowed them to surpass the US following WW2. Maybe the POD involves FDR dying in 1934?

Now, was it clearly stated in that episode whether it was actually John Kennedy, and not another Kennedy? It's been a while since I've seen it.
