Mark Kermode vlog made me wonder what would happen in a world were Elvis acting career progress much more than OTL. Anyone had any thought on that?
That is why Colonel Parker could not allow Elvis to have a real role i na real movie, because then Elvis would become a real actor and Tom Parker would have to get a REAL job.He was supposed to have a supporting role in The Rainmaker alongside Burt Lancaster. He even screen tested for it and the producers reacted positively.
He had acting ability which, if you molded it right, could turn into a great and emotive screen presence.
But if he had gotten The Rainmaker he would've gotten started on a WAY different path to film stardom than he did: the Colonel pretty much felt that Elvis was his meal-ticket and refused to let him stray out of this artificial box that he had built for his charge.
Which sucks: all you need to do is look at Kid Galahad and it's obvious he's an amazing actor.

In a universe where Elvis becomes a real actor, Colonel Parker's next line is,
"Welcome to KFC, may Take your order"

Mind you I think that would alter his career as a signer as well, if I recall Parker couldn't leave the U.S and hope to come back which kept Elvis from doing concert abroad should the two have something of a fallout Elvis could go in other country
