Elvis Presley politics option 1

As I understand it Elvis's manager was NOT sympathetic to Civil Rights. WI Presley were persuaded to make segregationist statements.

1) How much would the boost resistence to justice in the South (and indeed in places like Chicago and Boston)

2) What effect would it have on his career.

Somewhat interesting (I believe I had heard what GMB had posted too - that Presley was in favor of civil rights, but I'll ignore that). Perhaps the first major battle of the civil rights movement ITTL would be black songwriters suing to get injunctions against Presley performing their songs.
