I wonder how popular Elvis would be with the teenagers of the late 70s/early 80s. For those who were around back then, was Elvis getting airplay on rock radio at the time, or was he mostly an oldies/nostalgia act?
A point is that these two became representatives of discrete styles they managed to preserve to the present. By the late seventies, Elvis was becoming dated against the move from disco to punk rock/new wave.Factoid: Willie Hugh Nelson was born 2 years before the King. He's 82. Tony Bennett is 88.
