Elvis killed in the Tupelo tornado

PoD: During the 1936 Tupelo_Gainesville tornado outbreak, Elvis Presley and his mother are among killed by the Tupelo tornado.

Effects, anyone?

The battle for King of Rock And Roll would be between Buddy Holly, Little Richard, James Brown, and Link Wray, as Chubby Checker and Bill Haley never ventured out of their respective comfort zones, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry were too controversial for things that happened off stage, and mainstream America simply wasn't ready yet for Big John Hooker, Ike Turner, or for that matter Ritchie Valens.

Aside from possibly his movies, Elvis really won't be missed much. He didn't write any of his own material, and seemed to have inspired far more record executives, producers, and music agents than he did musicians.

If the doomed plane still carries Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper, things will become even more dystopian for mainstream American popular music before the Beatles. This could even butterfly away the Post-1963 Beach Boys and skip straight to "Kokomo" twenty-five years early!
