Election Seat Calculators.

I'm not sure I understand the British one (do you not get to choose which party represents your specific area?), but if the Canadian one is supposed to be like what the British one is, it's not a very detailed system, is it? It's more of a "this is how it all winds up" rather than "this is where this is from, this is where this is from, etc."

It probably takes in account which ones leans more Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem or Independent (as all of NI is)

And yeah, I know. Would have been interesting to see how Bloc Quebecois would have won...

I read the title as "Ejection Sea Calculator" and was really confused until I clicked one of the links.

For Sweden, in Swedish.

1: Number of seats. (Leave as it is for OTL Swedish parliamentary elections)

2: Election (municipality/region/parliament/Euro, in that order - leave unchanged)

3: Number of parties (include 1 extra for "others")

4: Parties' percentages, written as multiplied by 100 (42.52% = 4252)

5: Click the light blue box to calculate. The numbers can be 1-2 seats off due to regional variables.

Which I think we all can agree would be awesome.

Well that would depend on what an "Ejection Sea Calculator" does. Does it calculate the force needed to eject yourself or some item out of the sea? Does it calculate something regarding an "ejection sea", whatever that is?

I like to think it has something to do with forcing a planet to eject its seas into space, but I don't know enough about destroying ecosystems on a planetary scale to come up with anything sensical. :p

For 2010, I gave the Tories Republican percentages, Labour the Democrats and Lib Dems the Libertarians and got this-

Why is North Ireland the stronghold of "Other", and the Calculators says you need at least 60% to gain any influence there, and the Island is the last place to hold out till you reach 100%?

Because they have their own entirely separate set of parties. It is my understanding (I'm American) that it is next to impossible for the major national parties to make any inroads there.

Yup. Northern Ireland has a number of region-specific parties, who are mainly cast as being either unionist (support staying with the UK) or nationalist (support becoming a part of the Republic of Ireland). I'm not sure as to their relations to left- or right-wing politics, but loyalties to these parties are entrenched due to decades - nay - centuries of violent dispute over the political status of Ireland.

I don't know the details, though I've no doubt one of our more knowledgeable members will be able to supply them. :)

The election for the Supreme Soviet of the Union of British Soviet Socialist Republics (colloquially still referred to as the House of Commons) went well. Turnout was high, and all voted for the glorious people's Labour Party, except of course for a few hooligans who wrote-in the names of long-since-executed leaders of banned capitalist political parties.
