What would the mid-Victorians have done with lurex, spandex and goretex if they had discovered advanced artifical fibres in the 1840s. Suppose just for the hell of it anline dyes take off in the 1830s instead of the 1890s.

Lurex might be doable but it would be very expensive because aluminum is still very expensive at the time.

The Victorians would probably make rich-reds rather than shocking pink with the dyes.

They already had the leotard, so acceptable use of the new fabrics would prbably be confined to acrobats ans such.
