Eisner Lives?

Explain more about Eisner.I''ll check the links, too.

Well Eisner is what you call a charismatic. With him at it's helm, the USPD overthrew the highly popular House of Wittelsbach and established Bavaria as a Republic. However, he planned on resigning when the democratic process ousted him. On the day he went to resign, he was assassinated. When Eisner was assassinated, Bavaria got pretty lawless, and Eisner's more radical supporters started the Bavarian Soviet Republic, which allowed for the Freikorps to become established in Bavaria. After the revolt was put down, largely thanks to aforementioned Freikorps. Afterwards, the engrained support for the Freikorps and the far right lead to the rise of Gustav Ritter von Kahr and the fostering of far right movements banned throughout Germany after the Kapp Putsch.

Have Eisner survive, and the Bavarian Free State, in all likeliness, will end up without becoming a haven for right wing groups. Overall, saving Eisner, might save Weimar Germany. Making the Bavarian Peoples Party, in collusion with the DNVP the most viable right wing political force.

His party only received 2.5% of the votes in 1919. I don't know what to do there. Bavaria is pretty conservative.

That isn't the point, the point would be that Eisner peacefully resigning from his post would keep the far right out of power in Bavaria. The normal Catholic, Conservative and Royalist faction would keep doing as they please and the BPP may have a real shot at holding power in Bavaria for the long term.

Actually I thought a lot about Eisner living being an interesting PoD. I would like to see a TL on it. Maybe I will do one someday. I think your deliberations are rather well-founded.

Kind regards,
G.

Thanks! German history is filled with so many POD's and while I love exploring them, my current TL is based around the death of Hitler during the Beer Hall Putsch, and my next couple of timelines will probably have something to do with Interwar Germany in some form, so I can't possibly use every POD idea I get. But this one seems pretty damn good, and I think someone could do a good job with it.
