Einstein accepts Israel presidency

I don't know if this one has been covered yet, but suppose Albert Einstein actually took up Israel's offer of the presidency in 1948? He did see trying to reconcile the Jewish settlers with the Arab locals as a priority. Would his name and influence have helped, or would a zealot on either side have sent him to an early grave?

IIRC He was offered the presidency in 1952 not 1948. Even if he took it I doubt he would have had much of a lasting influence on history. The powers of Israel's president being quite small. Moreover by 1952 Einstein's health was already failing and the added stress of trying to bring change to Israel without having the means to do so via the presidency would have probably taken a year or so off of his life.

Einstine was a brillent scientist but he would have been a disaster
as a politition, there two completly differnt skill sets Enstine was
smart enough to know his limits and humble enough to acept them

I recall reading somewhere that one of the architects of the invitation to Einstein-I think it might have been the PM-had worriedly asked an aid, "what do we do if he accepts?"That said, I, personally, definitely support an Einstein-wank TL, especially if it includes anti-gravity spacecraft based on a Grand Unified Field Theory.

@Cherico: I think the president of Israel is more a figurehead, more like the German president, not the POTUS.

Well, that would show him to be more than just a one trick wonder.
