Egyptian Coup rather then Exodus

So, given that its Passover time, I was thinking about the Exodus story. Moses was raised as an Egyptian prince, according to the story, with the requisite prestige and power that that implies. What if, rather then leading the Jews out of Egypt, he took over? Off hand, I'd say it would be something very Akhenaten like, but I wanted to see what everyone thought.

That depends on who you believe to be the pharaoh of the Exodus, which no one can agree upon because the Exodus is almost certainly not a historical event.

There are, indeed, certain historical problems with who is considered to be the biblical pharaoh. Among other things, there's no recorded sudden obliteration of the Egyptian army, cattle, foodstuffs or male populace to correlate with.

Is there a reason why the pharaoh under which the Exodus took place is thought to have been named Ramses? I hear that name thrown around a lot.

Probably because there were eleven different Pharaohs with that name, so if in doubt of a New Kingdom Pharaoh's name, it's the easy guess

References to the "City of Ra'amses" in the Book of Exodus and the intertia of popular culture, which typically casts Ramesses II in the role.

Mosaic Dynasty of Egypt then? Assuming the events written in the bible was true, I can see Aaron end up disillusioned with his brother's upsurpation of power, and thus end up being the one who led Israelite tribes to the promised land of Canaan...

But at least it won't be semi hostile situation with Egypt, with Pharaoh Moses agreeing to support the jorney in exchange of alliance or such...

Fast forward and uh... butterflies
