Egypt overthrows Gaddafi in 1977

What if Egypt would have overthrown Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 1977?

Basically, there was a short border war between Egypt and Libya in 1977; thus, in this TL, Egypt decides to go further and outright remove Gaddafi from power in Libya.

Anyway, any thoughts on this scenario of mine?

Also, how would the U.S., Soviet Union, and the rest of the international community respond to such an Egyptian move? Also, how would the Arab world respond to such a Egyptian move?

The US restricted Egypt because it believed it didn't have the logistical ability to take all of Libya. I believe them given the pace and timing of Egypt's operations in the Yom Kippur War.

So if Egypt tries it on its own, it's playing a very dangerous game-not so much militarily (from Libya alone) as it is politically.

I've got a question--did the U.S. have no qualms about a Egyptian invasion of Libya on moral grounds? Indeed, was it only a concern for the U.S. due to Egypt's ostensible logistical limitations?

Carter did, since he was working on peace in the Middle East. Replace him with virtually anyone else and the USA would have no moral problems… but still almost certainly would have reigned in the Egyptians unless they don't care/didn't know/backed the operation.
