Effects on the Ottoman Empire if no French invasion of Egypt

So, Napoleon's invasion of Egypt had many effects, such as causing Napoleon's popularity to rise to the point that he could overthrow the Directory and the whole Egyptomania craze. Now, let's say the Directory decides to send Napoleon elsewhere. Without his invasion of Egypt, what would be some effects?

So, the chaos caused by Napoleon's invasion of Egypt resulted in Mehmet Ali Pasha successfully overthrowing the long-running Mamluk dynasty, and creating his own dynasty in Egypt. In the absence of this dynasty, would I be right in assuming that Egypt does not get modernized, and without the Turco-Egyptian Wars almost leading to its downfall, does it then mean that the Ottomans are more stable than OTL?

Worse for the Ottomans probably. The annexation of the Crimea caused elements of the Elite and the Emperor to realize the need for urgent reform but it was the invasion of Egypt that drove home the need to the conservatives as well. It's possible that the butterflies could somehow create a situation in which the Ottomans do better I suppose but it's not immediately obvious to me.

If you want the Ottomans to do better, than the optimal thing would be to put in a more accommodating and peaceful government in France after Napoleon invades Egypt. Kill him off at Acre maybe? Napoleons invasion shattered Mamluk power and it was the Napoleonic Wars that distracted the Ottomans enough for Mehmet to fill the power vacuum.
