Hey Guys,

I'm sure most people her have heard of the story that Hitler demanded General Dietrich von Choltitz, the military governor of Paris, to raze Paris to the ground before retreating from the Allied forces, but the commander couldn't due to the beauty of the city and so left it alone.

What if he hadn't? What if General Choltitz had obeyed Hitler and had demolished Paris to the best of his ability, in doing this the German General will manage to destroy (yes this is a list from Wiki) :
  • Eiffel Tower
  • Arc de Triomphe
  • Basilique du Sacré-Cœur
  • Notre Dame Cathedral
  • Grand Palais
  • Conciergerie
  • Jardin du Luxembourg
  • Les Invalides
  • Grand Louvre
  • Gare d'Orsay
  • Palais Garnier, and lastly the
  • Père Lachaise Cemetery

In other words the main monuments of Paris, if they have time the Germans will also burn the rest of the city to the ground with the best of their ability and will of course massacre entire swathes of people.

What happens now? How do the allies retaliate to one of the most cultured cities of Europe pretty much being wiped of the face of the Earth? What would be the lasting effects? And how would the French react?
