This idea came to me from the MLK assasination thread with several posts about the womens movement being delayed or not happening. This made me wonder what would the effects have been in a US where woman's roles remain as they were in the 1950s and '60s for a longer time?
What are the economic effects of woman remaining outside of the workforce in all but a few fields (teaching, nursing)?
What happens to technology if the housewife remains a major part of life into the digital age?
Any effect on birthrates? Some of the reasons for lower birth rates today are because modern women either do not have children or delay and have fewer children in order to build careers or be educated.
What happens to education? Today woman are the largest and most sucessful group in many colleges and univeristies, what happens if fewer woman get higher education?
