So, assuming this is plausible, what would be the effects if the USSR invaded Japan during World War 2 and established a communist state there?

The Soviets didn't have the naval capacity to launch an invasion of the Home Islands without American assistance AFAIK.

A revolution might happen, or some form of an invitation to the Soviets, so that Americans are prevented from totally destroying/occupying the country.

The world's market economy will be short of one major contributor, perhaps even 2(Americans will not be able to maintain the existence of South Korea easily if Japan cannot be used as a base of operations). The Communist bloc would possess a better naval capability.

I wonder how Red China would take such a nation. It would surely be considered more of a Chinese sphere then Russian, at least in Beijing. A worse Sino-Soviet split?

Not necessarily, look at NK which was firmly in the Soviet sphere until '90.

not firmly in the soviet sphere what so ever, they walked a thin middle line between the two.

their campaign of criticizing Khrushchev was one of the most comprehensive in the eastern bloc.

Could we have a Communist Japan during the Taisho democracy where the Communists create a system where the emperor and communism could co-exist, similar to the Russian Mladorossi?

Hmm, it depends on where Communist Japan is located, as well as how it approaches Communism. For example, it could take the Mongolian approach, where it was indepedent for the most part but was largely an SSR in practice. You could also theoretically limit Communist Japan to the Tohoku and Hokkaido regions and have it go in a completely different direction than if it, say, had all the Home Islands. There's certainly lots of possibilities with it.
