I understand that Charles (Karl) Martel was so named because his father Pepin's messenger didn't want to embarass Pepin's wife with the news that his mistress had just given birth to a son ("Long live the king, it is a carl" ('man'). "A carl, is it? Then let him be called that.")

So what if King Pepin was alone? Would Charles be Arnold, Theodoric, Childebrand, etc?

Will we end up with Arnoman (Carloman), and Arnaulemagne of the Arnolingians?

Would the Slavs end up calling their kings ornalj (and variations) instead of kralj etc? Would they choose a different word? eg vladj?

What do you think?
