Effects of a Japan without any form of military, post WW2 up to the 21 century?

How would East Asia, and the world in its entirety look and develop if for some reason, Japan had no military, starting at some point after WW2? Either they are forbidden from having it, or strong pacifists managed to get it abolished, or never created in the first place?

What would be the sociocultural effects of a country so large, having no military?

Any difference from OTL?

Japan as far as I know has not indulged in anything close to saber rattling since the war. If the Japanese had no military or naval forces and were totally dependent on the US for defense as opposed to OTL where they are almost in the same position I'm just not seeing any significant difference.

Well, it might make rapproachment with China and Korea easier, possibly.

Unless they can get the US to do it, there are a whole lot of small islands their currently contesting with the Chinese which likely just get outright seized.
