Effect on World Wars of British Calais

WI Calais had stayed British or English but alliances stayed as they did in OTL. Would this change thing?

How hard would Britain have defended Calais in 1940 as compared to OTL.

Argh! Butterflies! Butterflies!

Is there a way to minimise them?

Can Calaise be English intermittently, falling whenever Britain and France go to war and then being handed back, and finally going to Britain in 1815?

The problem is that it would mess up the matter of colonial concessions in the 18th century, the butterflies from which would soon accumulate massively.

I doubt we could see an entente cordiale if the UK holds Calais so possibly a very different WW1.

However, for a second lets ignore all the butterflies :D and go straight to the early days of WW2; would a British Calais mean a different lines of retreat for the BEF and instead of Dunkirk, could there be enough port facilities at Calais to see an at least partial saving of heavy equipment?

Perhaps Hitler stops from invading Calais for the same reasons he stopped the Panzers at Dunkirk, too get UK to agree to peace? Would change a lot. The Battle of Britain would have a land component then.
