Effect on France with a strong Hugenott population

What if Protestantism lead to a demographic situation, where almost 50% is Protestant while Catholizism is still the state religion ?

Not an expert but that would certainly strengthen France and weaken the neighbouring countries those guys emigrated to.

In the trivia, the French language will have less influence on German and English (in Germany a hairdresser is called a Friser, which definitely has French roots for example)

How would the protestants convert 50% of the population? IOTL the maximum the hugenott ever attained was 10% during the 1560s, and I don't see how the could get more influence with Catholicism still being the state religion - and use the advantages of this position to fight the spread of Protestantism.

The results would depend on how the protestants would be distributed. If they are concentrated in certain regions, the result would be a split of France into two states after a series of religious wars. If on the other hand they would be evenly spread out the result would most likely be a horrible civil war which could easily rage for decades.

That would be interesting scenarios.

It still leaves the question how one would get 50% protestants in France. The various wars of religion in france caused by the reformation lasted for almost 40 years, and a protestant majority at the beginning would have quite a different impact than one forming only towards the end.

A successful conspiracy of amboise which would end the power of the Guise before the wars start would have different results than a more fanatical Henry favouring protestantism at the end of the wars.
