The Royal Military Canal runs from Hythe, Kent to Rye in East Sussex (well technically meets the River Humber outside Rye but thats Technicalities), Skirting the Romney Marsh and the Kentish Hills.
It was built as a defence against Napoleonic France as a defence against invasion, but was never put to the test.
What would the effect of this Canal be in the event of a Napoleonic Invasion, basically fortifying the easiest landing points to get to london quickly from France?
There is also the Fact that it was also in direct Firing line of the Sealion Landings, are there any affects of a Canal built specifically for Defence on a more modern invasion force?
