Edward II and Roger Mortimer query

So, this is a thought that's been running through my head recently, well actually two thoughts.

Firstly, if the future Edward III as Prince of Wales had died before his father was removed from the throne in 1327, what would've happened? Would his mother and Mortimer have used his younger brother John as their proxy for the invasion? Or would Edward II have kept his second son closer to home? And in either case, who would John have married?

Secondly, if Edward II had refused to surrender and be judged by Parliament, would have been defeated in battle and forced from the throne that way?

If John became heir apparent, following some tragic accident to Edward before 1327, would his father consider using him as part of a marriage negotiation with the Scots? Or would he be used to bring more local allies to the crown's side?

At a guess he wouldn't be allowed to leave so he could become their proxy.

I'd imagine you'd still have an invasion but this time maybe it would be to "remove the wicked Councillors who have led the king astray"?

Then assuming they won, he'd have an accident then Jon would be crowned.

In regards to marriage, i don't really know.

I suspect he wouldn't marry locally because then that noble has reason to side with the Queen and be part of council for young Jon.

Alright very interesting, I presume then that Edward would go himself then to swear fealty to the french crown?

So either Margaret or Maud, daughters of Robert I could be considered for John, or his brother's otl wife Philippa of Hainaut or perhaps Maria of Portugal, or Constance of Aragon

John will be the excuse Isabella and Roger use to oust Edward the flaming.......same cause, different son. That's what I meant.
