East/West civil war in the US

Can anyone think of a scenario where the Mississippi became the dividing line for an american civil war? Whereby you had an east vs west conflict perhaps due to secession as well?

In a few other countries I can think of western alienation has been the cause for some secession movements, could this somehow spark a war in the US context?

You couldn't really have succsesion problems in the US thanks to thesystem that it has.

Maybe the eastern states strted limiting western states powers, maybe because they have different political parties and the east is in power. But... that would involbe to get most or all of the eastern states to share political views, and the same for thewest. Real unlikely though.

Not a dividing line on the Mississippi necessarily but a thought:

The Constitution is written differently and lacks a provision to admit new states with representation. The West is still settled like OTL, but can't become states, so it doesn't get representation in Congress. Eventually the population of the West grows large enough to be really ticked off by this, and with enough people and resources to start a fight.

Oh wait, this sounds like American Revolution 2.0...

Not the Mississippi, but their was some real east/west problems when west meant Vermont or Tennessee.

Greater Spanish settlement in the California and Colorado and New Mexico territories then greater Spanish settlement in them after the American-Mexico War. They then want to secede.

Does the east west division combines have to be the same as the Modern Day USA? Or can it be slightly different with perhaps Alaska and Hawaii, some of the overseas territories, or even some of the borders with Canada and Mexico?

That's an idea... for sure. I don't know howuch the foumdimf fathers expected new states, so if this is plaudible depends on that. But... that also leaves a problem with creatimg things like Maine, or New Hampshire, or even things like Tennessee and Illinois. I'm not sure if those woupdnt be giben permission, or if maybe they would be expected to join by the fathers.
