Earliest Suez Canal?

Given that whe have records of India and Axum Ships Sailing around the Med, and visiting England in the 3rd & 4th Centuries AD - Whe can assume the Nile Canal was quite large.

I was always annoyed I couldn't build one in Europa Universalis III

How about the Ottomans? Would the Ottomans have any incentive to take the Canal? E.g. Fighting a rebellion in Arabia, and it would have been easy to send the Med Fleet?

Well, not unless they somehow conquered Persia and needed to send significant force to defend against attacks from India. Even then, the Mediterranean Fleet mostly used galleys that would have had a rough time with the voyage in the Arabian Sea.
