Earliest Independence Possible

When is the earliest that the 13 colonies could have achieved independence?

When is the earliest we could get colonies breaking off en masse?

Not much earlier for the ARW, unless you alter the Austrian succession war, make france lose new france, but make the war more costly for britain, such that similar tax and social issues come up, and the colonies get similar treatment at an earlier date, then maybe the AWR, comes to a head when the OTL french and indian war started, which breaks into the bigger 7 years war equivalent.

Alright. I'll count any scenario in which most of the British Americas get free of the British Empire. Perhaps a few get free then others are influenced into following them into independence?

OTL the 13 repeatedly tried and failed to get Canada to join. It would depend on which colony leaves first, what happens, and what it could do or experience to entice others to go.

How about independence movements in the non British parts of the Americas? Perhaps either the revolutionary spirit could spread?

A speaking of a revolution and its battles, when is the latest we could see a national leader personally leading forces into battle? It doesn't have to be from the very front, he could be witnessing the battle from a horse a bit back from the main fighting.

Unlikely OTL the south american revolutions happened when Spain was occupied, unless you replicate a similar event I dont think it will or could happen.

If we can get a Spanish Civil War to occur or another occupation of Spain at that point could a Latin American revolution spread?

Perhaps we could go for France instead? Have them populate Louisiana to a much larger extent and have that colony get free. Then you could have the new nation, along with perhaps an independent Latin American block encourage British America to join them? Kind of an anti imperial faction.

Could it not have happened during the War of the Spanish Succession? Especially if there are several viceroys in Spanish America who did support the losing side in the conflict and now that the die is cast don't want to be replaced and end up being brought in chains before the victor and decide that rebellion against the motherland is the order of the day.

Make England collapse and become nearly ungovernable during the English Civil War. They were basically independent for a time during them.

What is the minimum amount of states that the United States could have? This is not by making the United States small. This is by making the states bigger and swallowing up some of the others that would exist OTL. Could the states of the United States ever have been unified by conquest instead of just agreeing to unify?

What is the earliest that Europeans could have colonized America? If someone else discovered the Americas in the mid 1300's and unleashed diseases on them by accident (about a 1/3 as deadly as OTL) then would Europe be ready to build colonies, potentially making independence for a European America occur more than a century earlier? If we can get colonization in such an era whatever colony or colonies are replacing America are going to find it much easier to break free. We also might get some European American castles out of it too and colonies fighting each other in an age of knights.

Note: Yes, this idea may be partially inspired by another thread but no, there's no tech boost in this timeline.

(Sigh) Again, it is not certain that the English Civil war is resolved as cleanly and quickly as it is was OTL. Have the English Republic be a little more than a joke, and the Colines can be free, but allied with England.
