Earliest Gay President

With the "moral panic" created during the height of the hysteria over HIV/AIDS pandemic? Almost certainly never. Not unless you happen to have a large segment of the gay US population winning Olympic gold medals, the Superbowl, the World Series etc and making massive contributions to business, charity, politics. And the religious right have to be largely neutralised.

At least we are not thinking about James Buchanan. We have yet to have a openly gay cabinet member appointed.

Have Jesus come back to Earth in the second coming, but have him be clearly, flamingly gay. He tells everyone it's okay. People are really confused for a while.
Next election, Mike Huckabee shows up to the first debate in bicycle shorts and a boa, and it's a lock.

thought, Barney Frank is made Speaker of the House in 2006, Bush and Dick die in a plane crash Frank is POTUS for the next 2 years

Execute Eliabeth II, put Stephen Fry up and hey presto say hello to Mr. President and the First Gentleman... of Britain

Actually although I picked (in my mind) Obama over Clinton, if she'd gone on to win I'd have been happy just to see Bill Clinton in the White House with the title First Gentleman, I'm amazed by the title a little too much

I can tell you one thing he won't be one of those camp, flamboyant types.

It would be funny though if he was.

Hello America? It's so fantastic to be here. I'm so excited to be here for this fabulously monumental change for America.

OMG America! The home fashion bill was rejected by congess, I need all of you to write your local representative and tell them you're tired of people going out in public dressed in clothing from WalMart.

The most likely scenario is one who comes out after they are elected. I presume a closet gay doesn't count or someone who is outed. Were there any past Presidents who came under suspicion? There was at least one gay Prime Minister Ted Heath but it only emerged after his death.

Is it possible for someone who has never been married to get elected as President? Has anyone? Gays are no alway unmarried some get married as a cover i.e Tom Triberg however gays tend not to get married at least in the conventional sense.

There is no way that an openly gay person is likely to get through the primary system to be nominated by a major party let alone elected for some time to come. If anything people were more tolerant on issues connected with personal morality in the late nineteenth century when Grover Cleveland won despite having fathered an illegitmate child. However attitudes change and openly gay mayors have been elected in San Francisco and the religous right are starting to alienate mainstream opinion. At a guess maybe 2036 or 2040

We might have had closeted gay presidents already, depending on whether or not the rumors were true.

Openly gay is another matter. Probably not for awhile.
